Default Acura TSX Sticker Price

Hello,

Today, I just took a Acura TSX for a test drive. I liked the car, but the
dealer didn't seem too eager to make a deal. What's the story with Acura
and invoice vs. sticker price? Can I expect much movement down from the
sticker for the TSX? The dealer said the TSX is a limited edition, not
many available, blah, blah, etc....

Any comments welcome.

The facts seem to include that the TSX has been selling a lot faster
than Honda anticipated and planned for. Draw your own conclusions.

The dealer's attitude was: "The TSX's are practically sold
right off the truck. You gotta pay a non-refundable $1000 deposit. Take it
or leave it."

He did agree to not charge more than sticker, however. It's a nice car,
and the dealer has good customer service.

If they say that the deposit is non-refundable, then go to another dealer.
That is completely BS. I bought my '03 Honda Odyssey in late '02 when the
wait was 1 - 2 months and you couldn't find one anywhere to test drive & the
deposit was refundable. When I bought my TL this summer, the same thing,
refundable.

Take it or leave it....leave it & tell them to shove it!!!

Guess what. There aint no other dealer (nearby). That's probably why they
can pull that crap. Not that it really mattered. While I'd willing to
provide a non-refundable deposit, it would only be on the condition that the
dealer sign a firm, fixed-fee contract for the price of car. And you know
that isn't going to happen.

Have you tried an Internet car seller likes carsdirect.com? Or try
contacting other Acura dealers via the Internet and see if they can arrange
to have the car delivered to your house. I had a friend do that a few years
ago for a new TrailBlazer.

No, I haven't, but I'd be reluctant to go that route. I prefer to buy a car
from where I'm going to get it fixed.

Years ago, I ran into really big problems with Jeep. I had purchased a
Wrangler and then moved across town. Long story short: I'll never buy
another Chrysler product again. That experience did teach me one lesson.
You really do tend to get better service from the dealer where you buy the
car. Some more than others, like everything else.
