Default Question: 1990 Integra LS hatchback open warning light

I had a specialty shop trace a blown fuse/dead short that was in the
circuit that controlled the clock, inside lights, rear defroster and
about 5 more including the small light in the trunk/storage space.

He traced the short to this small light but rather then replace the
wire harness from fuse box to this light he disconnected the light.

He thought about it & said if I wanted the light to still work he cud
grab the power from another place in the rear. I think one of the
tail lights.

Now I have another elect problem. The hatch door RED warning light on
the dash stays on ALL the time. This is a pain as I don't know if it
is a false reading. This was hot happening before I had this
electrical prob & his changing of the small trunk light circuitry.

Ideas?

TIA

The "Trunk Open" light AND the trunk illumination light both ground through
a switch in the trunk/hatch latch. Unplug the connector from the latch and
see if the light goes off.

If it doesn't go off, you're grounding the green/black wire somewhere
before the switch. That same green/black wire also goes to the illumination
light, which your guru was fiddling with.

If it *does* go off, the switch in the latch is stuck or damaged.
