My mechanic has fix a number of things and one that I could not afford at
the time was an EGR valve service for $360.00. I looked up the EGR valve online and it cost $147.00. This part is very accessable. If I buy one and put it in is that what he will do for $360.00? Thanks for any info anyone can provide. Zoomer |

What kind of car (year, make, model, trim level, etc) do you have?

Did you have a check engine light illuminated? If so what was the code
stored? $360 seems a little high and I work for an Acura dealer. If it was a P0401 you probably dont need a valve but just a thorough cleaning of the EGR ports. Depends on what type of vehicle you are driving. After reading further I noticed you have an RL. To clean the EGR passage in
an RL it is necessary to remove the intake manifold. So.....360 bucks is really not unreasonable. It is not necessary to replace the valve but is labor intensive to clean system. Dont let anyone tell you that you can clean the port without removing the intake. It is only a temporary fix and will clog again in a short period of time.
