Default 97 Integra idle speed

I recently purchased a 97 integra. The cold idle speed is about 1700 rpm.
After about three minutes the rpm will drop to about 1300. A few minutes
later it will drop to normal idle speed. The car passed the emission check
for licensing. 1700 rpm seems a little fast for a cold start. Any
opinions?

It seems a little fast, but Haynes doesn't even mention checking cold idle
sped - only warm idle.

I have a 97 Integra and I do not think it cold idles that high. If it
goes down to under 1000 when warm though, I think that is the critical
thing. I will check it and see what mine is cold and let you know.

I tried my son's '94 Integra non-VTEC, manual tranny, this morning. It also
cold idles at 1600-1800 initially, but I didn't run it long enough to see it
drop to the next level.

My wifes 95 integra also idles around 1700 when it first starts on a cold
morning.
It gradually drops down to about 1000 but that takes minutes.

It has always done it. I have told her just tell her to let the car warm up
properly (may not be needed, but at least the oil has a chance to circulate
a little -- she has a lead foot

Regards,
Remco

My '97 Integra VTEC starts at about 1400 and only stays there for a
short time, then goes to about 700-800.
