Default Acura Dealers in Toronto Area

I read through a number of postings that suggested Acura dealers are
not very good in the way of service after the car is purchased. It
seams they often don't provide the level of service that some
customers expect. I'm sure this would vary from dealer to dealer.

I'd be interested in hearing from people in the Toronto area regarding
their experiences with the dealer, i.e., which dealer did you buy
from? Are you happy with the service? Why or why not? Thanks

I hear horror stories of people getting their Acura's serviced at most
Toronto dealers. Since high volume is what they are more concerned about,
if they piss off the occasional owner, than so what? Their volumes are so
high, they could care less.

I do hear the opposite when it comes to the dealers just outside of the
Toronto area, like Acura 2000 (which has recevied the Acura ACE dealership
award several times over the last several years) and Acura in Markham.
Myself, I bought my EL from Acura East in Ajax, and continue to get it
serviced there. The sales experience there was very pleasant, with none of
the pressure tactics you usually hear about from most dealers. And their
service has been both very good and efficient. In contrast, when I went to
North Toronto Acura, the salesman was the slimiest salesguy I ever met and
practically "went to check with the manager" before I even had a foot on
the ground after my test drive.

Even though I live in Toronto, I don't mind at all driving out to Ajax for
my servicing. I want to be sure my car and I am taken care of, and Acura
East has certainly done that for the last 3 years.

Any specific comments/experiences with other Toronto Dealers, e.g.
Acura Sherway, Acura Woodbine, Downtown Acura. Tx

I purchased my first Acura from Downtown Acura, the sales experience was the
usual painful thing.
The sales person once had my deposit, became rude and would not want to deal
with any of my problems, in my case, some issues I had with the leather of
the seats at the time of pickup (delivery)
As for service, I was not going to go there after that.
I went to Acura 2000 for most part, but I discovered that they cause damage
to the car while fixing other things and they did not seem to care, the
approach was, we will fix it, and so they did, in one case, the trim on the
kicker panel. But once it was replaced the color did not match the other
one. They also scratched the roof of my car, they have these numbers that
put on top of the car and it is magnetic, as they try to remove it, any dust
caught under it scratches your paint, the great luck that I have, there was
a small stone on the roof of my car and it left nice scratch.
Also, once they replaced the leather seat cover, it was not done properly
and I had to get it fixed guess where? You guessed it, Acura East, they
fixed it without any paperwork, another words, free, at their own expense.
Acura 2000 would never offer me a courtesy car, regardless of being a
regular customer, you need to be the managers friend to get a loaner, but
Acura East has offered me this without me asking for it.
As for sales, the best experience I have had, Sterne Acura, give them a try,
but I have never had service done there.
Acura East is where I go for service and they have been very helpful and
they seem to do a great job.
Good luck

Thanks for your helpful comments.

Does anyone have any experience (positive or negative) at Acura
Sherway or Acura Woodbine?

I've had my 1992 Integra serviced at Acura Sherway once a year ago. The
engine was missing, I had no idea what was wrong and my preferred mechanic
is 50 km away. They took my car in right away and $70 later I was on my way
all fixed up. Definitely a good experience.

I used to go to Sherway with my '91 Integra, which I bought from there.
Salesguy was very good but the service wasn't. Seems they have apprentices
who do basic stuff like oil changes without supervision. (this is some years
ago so hopefully they've improved) Whoever worked on my car broke the oil
cap because he'd used a wrench. I had no idea oil was spurting out over my
engine until my battery crapped out. Service manager was very offhand and
couldn't care less. I never went back and have been going to Downtown Acura
ever since.

Downtown has given me excellent service and I've just got a new 2005 RSX
from them. The salesguy I dealt with was very good. Keif Grey is his name if
anyone is thinking of going there. I decided to lease the car this time -
$2000 down and $400 a month on a 4yr contract. At the end I can either buy
it outright for $13000 or roll it over to a new one.

Thanks Harley.

Could you provide some comments about the service at Downtown Acura
(e.g. quality, cost, honesty). Also, do they provide you with a loaner
when your car is in for service.

Thanks

Default Re: Acura Dealers in Toronto Area

With my '91 Integra they were very good. I'd take it in for oil changes and
a checkup each spring and fall. Usually there wasn't anything else going
wrong to take it in at other times. As the car has alloy rims, they tend to
corrode over time and develop slow leaks. Mine was starting to do this.
Downtown fixed them and said if they acted up again, they would re-do them
for no charge. Various things were recommended from time to time but I never
felt I was being pressured into getting work done that was unnecessary. On
one occasion I was having the brakes done as well as an oil change. I'd
taken the car in around 10.30am and asked if it could be ready for 4pm. When
I went to pick it up, around 4.15pm, it wasn't ready and I had to wait. Well
it was an hour later before the work was finished. The service rep was very
apologetic and said that as I'd been inconvenienced for so long the work was
free! On other occasions I was given discounts off parts and some things
weren't even charged for. Oh, and as part of their service, they wash the
car if they don't have too many jobs to deal with.

It may have been due to one particular service rep that I tended to deal
with, that I got such great service, but the others were all very polite and
professional whenever I dealt with them.

As for honesty, I'd say they were very honest. At least as far as I was
concerned - I never felt something hadn't been done that I'd been charged
for or used parts used instead of new ones.

Re a loaner - they provide a downtown shuttle service to wherever you needed
to get to. Usually to the office hi-rise area on University, though they
also drove me back to Cabbagetown. Service is normally done the same day.
