I installed a cold air intake w/ washable filter for the same price as a new
stock filter. However, the new one whistles at specific throttle settings. I have verified that everything is tight and there are no leaks. Must be the filter. Has anyone else run into this and found a cure other than return to stock. Is it indeed the filter. I could purchase a different style filter if I have to. The one I have has a cone area on the front that goes down into the filter and has filter material in the cone as well. -- Tony my boats at http://t.thomas.home.mchsi.com |

A real CAI is much longer, and may extend thru a fender to get -cold- air instead of hot under-hood air.Short rams are only about a foot long,IIRC. My Bomz CAI is pretty noisy at higher RPMs,but I don't have any whistles. More of a howl. Your whistle may just be a product of the length of piping, tuning to the 'note' of your whistle. -- Jim Yanik jyanik-at-kua.net |

I have the short pipe. Solved the problem.
Problem is the neck down rubber connector acting as a venturi and causing the whistle at certain throttle positions. I took a wire brush and ruffed up the inside of the tube at the rubber connector and the rubber connector itself. You can bairly hear it if you turn everything off and listen for it. But w/ the air going and/or the radio on you can't hear it. -- Tony My Boats and Cars http://t.thomas.home.mchsi.com "Jim Yanik" <jyanik@abuse.gov> wrote in message news:Xns9566E358746F2jyanikkuanet@204.117.192.21.. . > "Tony Thomas" <t.thomas@mchsi.com> wrote in > news:rPo2d.205374$Fg5.83650@attbi_s53: > >> I installed a cold air intake w/ washable filter for the same price as >> a new stock filter. >> However, the new one whistles at specific throttle settings.
