I have an 02 RSX type s. No major problems. The 2005 does have 10 more hp
but it weighs 100lbs more so they kind of cancel out.

I have a base. Nice car as well. Very nice. Reliable and fun to
drive

I prefer the look of the 02-04 compared to the 05 who looks too
much like a civic, imho.

You can't go wrong with either model

you know, i only just picked up on the civic similarity after reading that.
doesn't have as much character as the '04, though that alone wouldn't put me
off.

Same here. I pick up it up when I saw them side by side in a
parking lot...

And the new RL takes after the Accord a little. Some angles anyway.

I have a 2002 RSX Type S and have so far racked up 63K miles without any
significant problems. I am still on the original brake pads.. LOL New tires
at 58K.

This model is just passable in the snow, but the other 9 months of the year
is a blast to drive. I recommend snow tires if you live in snow country.

Handles like it is on rails. I love the way it feels and sounds above about
5000rpm. Quite visceral. Not much torque steer either. A+

This car is very noisy at speed. Engine and road noise are very audible.

Some serious blind spots driver side rear quarter, watch out!

I use Mobil 1 synthetic and average between 27 - 30 MPG. Manufacturer
recommends premium fuel only which can be expensive, and the car with 11:1
compression does not run at all well on midgrade or regular octane.
(Emergency use only.) I find it runs great on Sunoco Ultra and less well on
everything else depending on octane of course. Check engine light comes on
if gas cap is not tight. LOL

Use only Honda brand lubricant in the transmission as others seems to cause
poor/hard shifting. This is true of ones that claim to be IDENTICAL to the
Honda lube. Transmission can be balky to shift in cold weather until warmed
up. Still the best manual I have had, and my first 6spd.

Oh, Bose stereo sorta sucks sometimes... No real bass. Clarity good. FM
radio sucks big time. 6 disk changer is nice.

Interior not that durable. Materials sometimes chintzy in feel. Controls
well arranged and easy to use, none broken yet. (Traditional problem in
older Honda's and Acura's - this is my fourth.)

Positively outhandles and out runs big BMW's to their chagrin. (Only when
severely provoked - I never start anything, I am an older "mature" guy..
Hehehe)

Hope this is not too much info.. If you really like to drive and not be
driven this is a good car for you.

Yes 10 more HP and 100lbs, they just about cancel each other out.

Good Luck!

A bit off topic so please excuse me. I have a 2004 RSX with a bit over
14 kmi. I am due for a Mobil 1 oil and filter change. I am already
receiving the blinking 'maint req' light which runs for about 20 seconds
and then goes out. After I change the oil and filter, how do I reset the
"Maint Req" light?? Thanks for any help...It is sincerely appreciated.

I may have forgotten the exact procedure but as I recall you hold down the
trip odometer button and turn the ignition on and wait for it to reset.
Takes a few seconds. The procedure is explained in the owners manual.

Thanks Kevin. I finally found the procedure, well disguised, in the OM.
