Went to acura dealer, and they are trying to close out the 2004
rls. Price was 37000 even, my choice of vehicle. They would even order one for me, if one was available. Went to another acura dealer, and they offered same deal, as long it was on lot(they had six of them). They also had one demo with 9,000 miles and offered for 35000. Sticker is 46000. plus Checked on edmunds, and this seems like way below invoice. What am I missing here, or is this a good deal? Thanks |

It's a great deal. But they're moving them out because the new RL is a
completely redesigned and superior car (my dealer quoted me $47K-50K today, pricing hasn't been finalized) and they have to move the old RLs out. All depends on what you want to pay, what you have to spend, and what matters to you. Acura's a great car no matter which choice you make. Good luck. The obvious answer is simply that NEW totally redesigned RL's come out soon
and the 04's must go. The resale on the 04 RL in the future will reflect that it is old design and be lower by approx same that you save now. So it really only matters if you are happy with the current RL design and can accept that the newer design will beout there soon. I bough the 04 TL in March ( love this car ) and did look at the 04 RL in showroom that already being well discounted. I love the interior but found it felt like it had less room than the TL. TL felt must more comfortable to me ( 6'2" 200lbs ) room wise. I am looking forward to seeing and checking out new RL design, looking for possible 06 purchase as I trade every two years basically. Also love the '04 TL - agree with the interior room BUT they sure used up
the trunk space! They need to address this! The '04 RL only has a puny 225hp engine. If you are going to spend $ 35k,
I'd go for the TL. In my opinion, I do not see why anyone would by an '04 RL, w/ a smaller engine & bland looks for anything close to what they are asking when you can get the TL w/ NAVI for under $ 35k. If I could afford it, I'd get the '05 RL in a heart beat. The amount of torque, which matters most (in my opinion), is not much different. 238 for the TL vs 235 for the RL. So unless you are going to redline a lot, you will not see much of a difference. -- Nostalgia isn't what it used to be. |

My last car, an '01 BMW 530i was rated at only 225hp, but had much greater torque and a very flat torque curve. It really makes a difference. -- Larry J. - Remove spamtrap in ALLCAPS to e-mail "Lord, are we worthy of the task that lies before us, or are we just jerking off..?" |

Art,
Funny I have found that trunk isn't as bad as I first thought. I load a couple of large hard sided 29" suicases that are extra wide twice a year. Used to be able to put them side by side in Maxima. just knew that was not going to happen with TL. For heck of it before packing after just getting TL I took empty suitcases to car to " play " with trunk. I was pleasently surprised to find that I could indeed still load both into TL albeit a diffenrent configuraton. Instead of side by side ( not even close ) one in flat and second ( I was shocked ) standing flat and up like it would be placed next to you on wheels in line if I get that across right. Trunk is deep enough and lid squared enough to allow truck to close with no problem. Agreed that always nice to have more trunk space but actual design, trunk height and hinges covered in trunk help. By that I mean that trunk hinge area clearly defined since they are housed in their own surrounded metal. No loading then trying to close and hinge hitting something. If you got it in then hinge won't stop you.
