We've had our new TL for a little more than three weeks.
I'm noticing a substantial feeling of more power from it, and think it may be one of two things. A. The dealer had put low octane gas in it, and my two fill ups with 91 octane have made it run much better. B. The car had some kind of power limit for the first few hundred miles which have now passed. Anyone else experience this phenomenon..? -- Larry J. - Remove spamtrap in ALLCAPS to e-mail "Lord, are we worthy of the task that lies before us, or are we just jerking off..?" |

Now that you mention it, I have. I got a little over 2K miles on mine, but I did sense a increase in power after a couple of weeks. I also noticed more of a "rumble" from the exhausts as I pull away from a stop. dam |

I have noted a significant (more than usual) difference in power when
running without A/C vs. with A/C. If I had a notion to "mix it up" with a BMW or similar vehicle I think I'd want to first turn off the A/C. RJ |

Most cars will feel like that with AC on, except maybe for some high- torque V8's. -- Larry J. - Remove spamtrap in ALLCAPS to e-mail "Lord, are we worthy of the task that lies before us, or are we just jerking off..?" |

I barely notice anything in my 2001 TL. My Corolla was another thing, though... -- Nostalgia isn't what it used to be. |

I can feel the small loss of power when cruising and pushing the AC button. It's instant, and has been like that with every 4 and 6 cylinder car I've had. It was not really apparent with our two BMW 540i cars, or the Corvette I once owned. They were high-torque V8s. -- Larry J. - Remove spamtrap in ALLCAPS to e-mail "Lord, are we worthy of the task that lies before us, or are we just jerking off..?" |

Don't all modern vehicles automatically turn off the air to maximize hp when at full throttle? Imants |

In general, engines make more horsepower with cooler air.
I seemed to notice that my CL-S seemed to get a bit better gas mileage and had a bit better power after third tankfull. Maybe you noticed one of the above? Happy driving! "E.
