I have gotten a letter from Acura to add a second gear cooling mod to
prevent the gear over heating and chipping - not sure if that is what you
are asking about?

That's it exactly. The dealers are getting a fiber optics camera to
peek into the tranny first to make sure the 2nd gear isn't discolored.
If it it, out goes the tranny. If the gear is ok, they put in the
cooling mod.

BTW, I'm waiting for the letter for my 2001 TL. I'm in Canada.

I think I got one not long after it came out. Best to just call the dealer and
have them fix it. Don't need the letter.

That's one of the things that Acura Owner Link is good for. You should
register at the Owner Link site:

http://www.acura.com/owning/owning_index.asp

Have your VIN ready. One of the links on Owner Link is Recalls.

I called Honda Canada. The car was still under the previous owner. I
will be getting my letter too.
