Hi,
I just bought a 2002 Acura 1.7 EL Premium with extended warranty of 6 years/160,000 kms. I am thinking of cancelation the extended warranty and use the money to buy a new set of tires as the current tires are worn out. The car has still factory warranty. Should I need the extended warranty? Thank you. N. |

The point here is the worth of extended warranty. If it is not worth it
then better use the money to buy a set of tires which is clearly worth the money. So, the question is 'Is it worth the extended warranty?' N. Its a tough call. I got the extended warranty when I bought my used 2002
RSX-S. I hope my car doesn't break down but its nice to have the extra insurance just in case. I figure that if I have a problem, it'll probably pay for itself. Extended warranties tend to be ripoffs in the first place but at least with the automaker you have a reasonable expectation that they will be around when you need to use the warranty. With a 3rd party you don't know if they will even be in business when you need a repair, and if they are you don't know if they are going to make it difficult for you to collect. |

Heck, you sometimes cannot even trust the regular warranty. People have
been denied claims on cracking leather seats in the RSX-S while others have had them fix/replaced no problem. I'm not sure I would buy another extended warranty up front unless there is incentive to buy it sooner rather than later (like a discount for example). Otherwise you are just giving the warranty company an interest free loan. I asked if I could cancel my extended warranty when I bought and was told I could at any time. Well I contacted Acura and they tell me that I cannot. Sometimes I wonder where the lies end.......... -- Rob "General Schvantzkoph" <schvantzkoph@yahoo.com> wrote in message news an.2004.08.24.11.58.54.417988@yahoo.com...> On Sun, 22 Aug 2004 00:52:23 +0000, nguyenn wrote: > >> Hi, >> >> I just bought a 2002 Acura 1.7 EL Premium with extended warranty of 6 >> years/160,000 kms.
