The one I have does not raise itself automatically. No spring anywhere and
the shocks won't lift it since they are actually in a downard position when completely closed. Was wandering if there is something I am missing. Was thinking about installing a couple of springs where two of the rubber bump stops are at on the rear. Problem is you have to turn the key w/ one hand and lift the hatch w/ the other while the key is turned. No way to open it one handed. -- Tony my boats at http://t.thomas.home.mchsi.com |

My 94 GSR still lifts on it's own. (but it's lived in warm, sunny Florida it's whole life) -- Jim Yanik jyanik-at-kua.net |

Your saying that when you turn the key the hatch will lift by itself. That
is what I would like but it looks like the lift shocks are facing down when closed and would not push out with enough force to push th ehatch up. If it will, then I will replace the shocks. -- Tony my boats at http://t.thomas.home.mchsi.com "Jim Yanik" <jyanik@abuse.gov> wrote in message news:Xns9543CD405117jyanikkuanet@204.117.192.21... > "Tony Thomas" <t.thomas@mchsi.com> wrote in > news:xoSSc.137561$eM2.28821@attbi_s51: > > > The one I have does not raise itself automatically. No way to open it one handed. I had the same problem with a CRX. Never did solve it. The frustrating thing was that I had 2 CRXen at the time, a wreck I was cannibalizing for parts and the one whose hatchback would not pop up. The struts were still good but I had to prop the damn hatchback latchandle up or get a second party to operate it before I could get the thing to open. The key linkrod was disconnected. The wrecked car had struts that were completely shot, they wouldn't hold the hatchback open at all, but the blasted thing would pop open when you pulled its latch, no problem. I think those little rubber bumpers have something to do with it. |
