The `92 GSR timing belt broke a few months ago because the water pump ceased
up. The car was at low rpm/speed when it broke so I was hoping to dodge a bullet...not so. Basically I finished the timing belt, and when turning it over it won't crank up. I can tell the compression is not there by the way that it sounds while turning over. I wonder if it could be a blown head gasket...since the car overheated before the belt broke. Oh well..anyway the head has to come off now. -- Give me Linux or give me ...uh..not Windoze. |

I have a '92 RS---Non -VTEC. (At least I think it's RS---the person I bought it from said it was GSR, but after a VIN lookup at a mechanic somewhere, they said it was RS). It's got ~ 146K miles, & I bought it at ~114K, & replaced the timing belt immediately after purchase, but I don't recall replacing the water pump with it. I'll have to holler at my mechanic or find the invoice. Of course, I've had much more work done besides the timing belt. My point here? I'm just saying thanx for posting, cuz I want to see how many miles your Teg has when this happened, & I needed to be reminded to check how old my water pump is. |
