I have a 2003 Tl and I also had a problem programing my garage door opener
with homelink...When I went my dealership to have my very first oil change I
told them about this problem and they were aware of it and gave me
alternative instructions on how to program it...it worked and unfortunately
I no longer have them...I service my vehicle at Inskip in Warwick RI...I
think garage door openers from certain years up require different steps for
the Homelink to work..Contact you local dealer...they should be aware of the
problem and hopefully will have the same instructions I was given...Good
Luck!

If you have a grage door opener with rolling codes, then you have to follw
certain steps to get it to work. When I first setup my TL (already haf an
'03 Odyssey setup) I erased all the other codes for my Odyssey & my keypad
outside.

All you have to do is have the key turned "ON" on the TL & press the button
on the side of the garage door operner until it lights up (should only be a
second or less). Then you have 30 seconds to get in the TL & push & hold in
the HomeLink button for about 4 seconds. Release it & hold it in again for
4 seconds. Mine worked right away then.

I believe the instructions were w/ the operner not w/ the TL, but I could be
wrong. You might want to check the instuctions in the TL's owner's manual
(not the quick setup guide) for alternate setup.

Hope this helps.

Default Re: Problem with Home Link TL 04 - Same for 04 MDX

I have had the same problem with the '04 MDX and no amount of cajoling seems
to work. I have followed the rolling code instructions both from the MDX
manual and the Homelink website and manual. I also had the dealership clear
all the existing codes and then I tried again with no luck. My '01 CL
homelink worked in 5 seconds flat... The '04 MDX has been an absolute "no
go". My garage door opener is a Chamberlain which is fully Homelink
compliant. So if anyone has any more detailed suggestions I am ALL EARS AND
EYES!!!

For rolling code units it is a two step process. The first step is
the program your TL using an existing remote that you know to work.
See TL manual for details.

The second step is to add your TL's newly programmed remote to your
garage door opener's memory. See garage opener manual.

Keep in mind that your opener can only remeber a fix number of
remotes. For example, one of ours can remeber 4 and the other can
remeber 7. Once it runs out of slots it will either refuse to remeber
the one you are trying to program or it will drop the first remote
that was programmed from memory. If you are having problems you may
want to wipe out all codes from your opener and start over.

The trick is,on the rolling codes, you must still program the auto by
holding the garage door opener remote near the cars button and hold down
the button on each. Light will then flash rapidly. Then press the
"smart" button and do as manual says.
