Default 92 Legend Freeze Plug

My mechanic has determined that the coolant leak on my 92 Acura Legend
could be caused by a bad freeze plug. He quoted $800-$900 to repair
this because "it's hard to get to". After looking up the price of new
freeze plugs (very cheap, just a couple of bucks), I have concluded
that the price he is asking is mostly for labor.

Has anyone had experience changing the freeze plugs in a Legend?
Does the engine have to be pulled for this procedure? Is this
something an aspiring DIY (such as myself) can do with some time,
help, the right tools and a Haynes manual?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
