I'm a Lexus owner, but am starting to like the TL a lot. I see the Road and
Track performance figures compare well with Maxima, Lexus and BMW 330. How long has the TL been fast like this? A 2001-02 TL is what I would buy. Is this the same basic car as the '04? How about the motor? Is an '01 noticable slower than the '04? How about quality, how would an Acura stack up against the same year Lexus? I am very pleased with my Lex quality and reliability. Could I expect more of the same from Acura, or maybe not quite up to Lex standard? Thanks! |

i'd go for a 04', wait till the end of year to get a great price (if you can
wait). i just got 04 without nav system (i'd rather a portable nav unit so i can take it car to car). awesome car. very comfy, enough power, nice amenities. i wish they had a 04 tl-s car with manual 6 and rear drive, but my wife drives tl more than i do.... I've got a 2001 TL Type-S along with a 1990 Lexus. We bought the TL 3 weeks
after the Type-S was introduced and have not had any problems whatsoever with it. We do normal maintenance and just replaced the tires after 40K miles, but nothing, and I mean nothing has gone wrong with the car in the areas of mechanical or anything with the body. We've bought the Lexus ES-250 new in 1990 and have not had as much luck with it. It's still a good car, don't get me wrong, but we've had parts problems over the years. The list includes power steering problems, moon roof problems, CV boots replaced, radiator replaced twice, water pump replaced twice and numerious issues with the check engine light. The drive train has not had any real problems and we've got close to 200K miles on it. L. There is no 2001 TL Type S. The Type S's were 2002 and 2003 models only...
Unless you mean the CL-S which started in 01'...
