The Problem: Steering makes a zipper like sound while turning (this is more
noticeable when the car is cold). And when the steering wheel is cranked all
the way to one extreme, it makes loud screetching noises and the steering
wheel jerks back and forth. Acura always tell me it is normal when I tell
them over the phone, but when I show them in person they realize that it's
not a normal problem. Also, I'm not sure if this is a related problem, but
my engine sounds whiney and I feel a loss in power.

I am going into my dealer to replace the steering wheel pump for a 3rd time
next week!!! When they replaced it the previous 2 times, the steering
problems were gone, my engine sounded better, and I felt a power increase.
But the problems keep coming back after awhile! I'm getting a little fed up
and Acura doesn't seem to have an explanation other than to just keep
replacing the pump. What could be causing my chronic steering pump problem?
Would it be related to my engine sounding whiney and a loss in power?

Are you doing alot of steering with the wheels turned to the extreme
either way? The manual states this will damage the pump.

No I'm not doing a lot of steering when the wheel is turned to either
extreme. Only when I'm parking or turning into and out of my garage.
