Last night the 18 year old informs me that the Integra "didn't quite make it
home". It seems that the water pump gave out and she tried to make it home despite the knocking and pinging that it must have been doing. It overheated so bad that she said it wouldn't even make heat out of the vents. She knew better than this - as I've taught all my kids how to take care of their cars and to not push things if their guages tell them to shut off their cars. I checked it out this evening and it crank over but won't start, so at least it's not locked up. I'm guessing blown head gasket; when I pull a spark plug, I'll have a sea of green staring up at me. I just hope that the head isn't warped. |

I spoke with my daughter about it yesterday and she said that the knocking occured BEFORE the overheating. I'm guessing that timing jumped and pistons and valves started clashing until something finally cracked, then the coolant ran out. What a horrible way to trash a perfectly good V-TEC. |
