It was a trade in at the dealership, has 73000 miles and looks in top
shape. What if anything, should I look out for or be aware of with this vehicle? other Acura owners may be able to give suggestions, this is my first Acura! Thanks.. ( my 2nd. "import") Yvonne |

If I could give you any advice it would just be to check for the usual stuff on any vehicle with 73K miles (e.g.: tires, brakes, rotors, a/c filter, oil changed, AT fluid changed, brake fluid changed, power steering fluid). Also be sure it comes with the 100K mile transmission warranty. -J. They are good cars and it will be a good buy if the dealer has the
maintenance records to check that everything was done on time (I doubt it). Why don't you get it from a private seller and request the service records. You do not know what that car has been through, no matter how good it is some people just do not take care of their cars and you do not want to end up with one of those. My ex wife would change the oil in her car every time the light went on, thinking that it was the reminder to do it. Obviously that car (a 5 yr old bmw she got new) died young. Just my .02. <angelsbridge@webtv.net> wrote in message news:21489-40B2F294-477@storefull-3217.bay.webtv.net... > It was a trade in at the dealership, has 73000 miles and looks in top > shape. If it has the navigation system, be sure it is working -- i.e. shows
your location correctly and has three green 'bars' coming from the world icon in the upper right part of the map display. The green bars show reception is OK. Navigation problems are really expensive. Also, ask them to show you the software / map revision code. If it is not current, get them to update before you buy. Otherwise it costs $60 US around here... Other than that, the usual. Try every bell and whistle to be sure it works (kinda hard on the mirror defrosters, but you can see the LED light up on the "on" button. If you hear valve clatter you may ask for a valve lash adjust. You may also want to see the receipt for the timing belt change that should be performed every 60,000 miles. --Mort On Tue, 25 May 2004 03:15:32 -0400, angelsbridge@webtv.net wrote: >It was a trade in at the dealership, has 73000 miles and looks in top >shape. I have a '99 TL (bought it new and currently have about 69K miles on it)
and have had almost no problem with it. It's a great car and has been extremely reliable. There were a couple of recalls - one was to replace something to do with the A/C compressor(?) (I think it had something to do with a part rusting if you lived in an area that used a lot of salt on the roads). The other recall had something to do with the PCV valve. I got the recall notice, took my car to the dealer and they told me they performed the service, though mine did not need the full service done. A couple of weeks later, my check engine light comes on. I take the car in and they tell me that this was expected and there was a recall to fix this problem - the one I just mentioned. I told them I had brought the car in for this recall already. Long story short, they "redid" the recall work and I haven't had any problems since then. Anyway, I would make sure that at least this last recall work has been performed. Acura sent me a document in August 2003 extending the transmission warranty on my 4 speed automatic '99 3.2 TL to 7 years or 100,000 miles whichever comes first. It states that all '99 TLs (there were only 3.2 liter engines that year) now have this extended coverage. I thought it was mighty nice of them. --Mort On Tue, 8 Jun 2004 20:24:52 -0400, "-nobody-" <dummy_dead_email@asphalt.com> wrote: > >only > >a.. 2000 - 2002 and some 2003 Acura 3.2 TL > >a.. 2001 - 2002 and some 2003 Acura 3.2 CL > >have the extended transmission warranty 5 speed auto only >(not the 4 speed in the '99) > > >"mikey" <EmbErna@cisco.com> wrote in message >news:CUlvc.41368$Ly.16836@attbi_s01... >> angelsbridge@webtv.net wrote: >> >> > It was a trade in at the dealership, has 73000 miles and looks in top >> > shape. Why would they extend the warranty on the '99s? They were 4 spd. autos and
had no problems, correct? How about the 4 spd. autos in the RLs, have they been extended? Questions, questions....! 8-) mikey wrote: > Yes, it was mighty nice of them... > I received the same notice on my '99 TL. > > "nobody" doesn't know what (s)he's talking about. > > mikey. > > > Mort wrote: >> Acura sent me a document in August 2003 extending the transmission >> warranty on my 4 speed automatic '99 3.2 TL to 7 years or 100,000 >> miles whichever comes first.
