Default tsx basic new owner questions

I just picked up my stock acura last week no navi ...330 miles already on
it.. love it.. but now I have a few basic questions...

1) The oil changes in the manual suggest every 10k miles! Should I follow
it? It seems a long wait...

2) 91 octane or higher.. (Gas prices are crazy now) but i figured I would
ask...

3) Anyway to roll UP all the windows with the remote? (I can use the key in
the door) but other then that I need to use all 4 buttons

4) anyway to close the sunroof without putting the key in the ignition

5) can someone explain to me how the climate control works? Auto shuts off
if I hit the fan button, or change the 'mode' of which vents the air comes
out of but auto is nice otherwise... which vents does the 'auto' air
climate control use? How bad does it effect gas mileage?

6) Is there a way to 'test' the alarm by shaking the car? Or do I need to
bust a window ?

7) They threw in wheel locks ... if I lock the trunk is it ok to keep this
'key' in with the jack so I don't lose it?

8) Anyway to show the minutes/seconds the current cd is at without fast
forwarding? (Change the display) ?

9) It seems the gas mileage is pretty bad, but I am told that's because it's
brand new.. does this get better after I have a few thousand miles on it? I
can almost see the gas gauge drop while I drive... (Ok that's exaggerating a
bit.. but still, I am getting like 245 miles to about 15 gallons.. (only
filled up once so far) is that right? seems really low.. 16mpg... I am not
gas-ing it too much.. it's an automatic... haven't really used the trip
tonic...

That's it for now, but I am sure I'll have more in a few days...

Thank you for your answers in advance..

"haven't really used the triptonic..."
will be the reason for the poor fuel consumption.

They're very inconsistent with this. The manual says one thing, but the
service record doesn't match. And my dealer recommends a *third* schedule.
I'm going with every 5-6K miles, and doing tire rotations at the same time.

It's recommended but not required.

No.

Aside from using the emergency handle with the manual closing mechanism,
there's no way that I know of.

If you hit Auto, you just set the temperature, and it does the rest.
Anything else you do (turn on the defroster, increase the fan speed, etc.,
kills the auto. I've found that I like the auto climate on the TSX less than
on my Honda Odyssey. The A/C doesn't seem to cool fast enough for me on
auto.

I did this by mistake. Leave the windows down. Lock the car. Then, reach in
to unlock it.

I do. My take is that a thief is going to just move on to a car without
wheel locks rather than messing with mine, even if the lock is in the trunk.

Mine has NAV, but all I have to do is press the "audio" button. It *doesn't*
tell me how much time is remaining, or how many tracks are on the disk,
which is kind of annoying.

I consistently get 26-29 mpg with a mix of city and highway driving. I
haven't seen a change at all since I got the car (it had 300 miles when I
took delivery, and it has 8000 now).

Hope this helps.

John.

I got the Accord with the same basic 4-banger and oil change
recommendation. Reading the manual, it suggests "harsh duty" oil
changes at 5k miles. EG, city driving. Especially for the first
change, the dealer and I both recommend this in any case! Just had
mine.

Isn't there a panic button on the remote, or do you really want to
test the sensors?

Curious. Are you sure you're doing the math correctly? Unless you're
staying on the cam all day long (hi revs). Yeah, you have the auto,
and on the Accord, at least, in calm driving the thing shifts to
overdrive automagically after about a second of constant speed. I'll
probably never touch the cruise control on purpose, with the great
behavior of this auto, hardly seem to need that to achieve mileage.

I drive a 01 Prelude which is only similar in that it is a 2.2 VTEC with 200
hp with a redline at 7,400. Prelude owners look to using synthetics after
break-on with changes around every 5k. With dino oil more often. Should
imagine the TSX requires Premium as does the Prelude. I have reached 32mpg
on long trips but typically around 26-27 urban/highway driving. But gas
mileage depends entirely how much you drive in the VTEC. Don't know much
about the auto as I have a 5 spd and can't imagine the TSX with anything
less than the 6 spd.
