Default Beeping Integra Dash

What the hell is beeping, occasionally, behind the dash of my '92
Integra?

Thanks...

Seatbelt-unlocked alarm/warning?
Or a headlight-on warning that fails intermittently?

Got a service manual?

Neither.

A Chilton's. Doesn't have an entry for "inexplicable beeping"... ;-)

I could have been more clear...

It's hard to describe: Not like an annunciator, or alarm; I first
thought the volume of my radar detector had been turned down; no
apparent pattern; you'd never notice it at speed or with the radio on.

I've had this car since new, still LOVE it, and this is definitely
"novel behavior".

Thanks again.
Mark

Same thing happens in my '90 Integra. On my end I'll give it a 90% chance
of being the ICU. This is located underneath the fusebox. Its a little
chip module that also controls the following: Windshield wiper delay, side
marker flasher relay, key-on beeper circuit, seat belt beeper, brake warning
bulb check circuit, light on warning, rear window defogger timer, oil
pressure warning light. If any of these other systems are going (for me,
windshield wipers, rear window defroster) then I would suspect that it is
the culprit. I believe that it might be a fairly common problem, because
the two units that I've ripped out of junked vehicles have also both had
"features" of their own.

"My" beep sounds as if it's coming from right behind the heater
controls (radio is powered OFF).

[tinfoil helmet]it's probably a low battery indicator for the GPS Ashcroft
had installed under your hood to monitor your whereabouts[/tinfoil helmet]

The chime (beeper unit) and the controls for it (the ICU) are in two
separate spots. The beeper (on a -90) is located around the center dash
area, while the ICU is behind the fusebox. They are connected by a wire.

Yeah, thanks all the same, but this thing ain't chiming: It's a
rather soft beep.

That would be the "Geococcyx californianis" in the glovebox,
I believe.

Always trying to be helpful ...
