Default Advice on 3.2 TL Brake Pads

When I took my 2000 Acura 3.2 TL for servicing, the Midas guy advised
changing the brake pads and machining the disc surface.

The dealers ask for about $ 280 for each side including parts and
labor. I am considering buying better quality pads on the internet
from something like carparts.com and getting the job done at a local
service shop.

Any advice on the types of brakes and the brands? I have praise for
ceramic and semi-metalling brakes read on the seller sites. Are they
any good? What are advantages / disadvantagtes?

I also read in one of the threads that Acura TL rotors are prone to
warping. If that is true, should I consider getting softer brake pads?

Thanks

No doubt.

I would advise sticking with the stock Honda pads unless you're going
racing.

Are you experiencing pulsations through the brake pedal under braking?
Rotors aren't warped nearly as often as the dealers and garages would
like you to believe. I would never turn a Honda rotor. If they're
really bad enough to need it you're going to be replacing them in a
few months anyway. Just fit new ones, and find yourself an independent
shop that doesn't charge outrageous prices.
