Default TSX

Am considering the purchase of a TSX as opposed to an Audi 1.8T. As I see
it the only advantage to the 1.8T is quattro. The build quality and
handling of the TSX appear to be superior. Any TSX owners have any
complaints?

I am the owner of the TSX and I was in the same situation and I eventually
bought the TSX. No regret at all. It is an awesome car. Get the Navi if
you can.

Isn't the 1.8T a lot faster?

Hmmmm, I don't think so ...

The Audi 1.8T puts out 170bhp with 166 ft/lbs of torque to move
its more or less 3250 lbs around.
The Acura TSX puts out 200bhp with the same 166 ft/lbs of torque
to move its more or less 3230 lbs.

Since the Audi *weighs more* and has *less power*, the scientifically-
minded folks and their engineering-oriented brethren would deduce
that it is *slower* - I dare say they'd postulate it has to be slower
than the TSX.

I've seen 0-60 times for the TSX ranging from 6.6 estimated to 8.3
or so. Not mind-bogglingly fast, but neither is the Audi A4 1.8T.
I think it hovers around the 8-8.5 area.

Now, it may depend on your metric for "faster" ... the Audi is decidedly
faster to $30,000, especially when you tart it up to match the TSX in
features. And I'd wager it is faster when it comes to depreciation, too.
Still gotta say it is one nice-looking car, though, and a contender.

Ain't quite so easy as comparing two numbers, you have to worry about
the area under the curve before you can have much of a scientific
opinion. Chasing around 1.8T's on the road, they've always seemed to
me much more responsive (ie, faster) in most situations.
Standing-start quarter-miles might be close, TSX might even win, with
the rpm's kept in the vtec zone.

Based on my Accord EX4 and vaguely remembered numbers for the TSX, I'd
guess low sevens credible for the TSX.
