I've owned my 2000 TL for just under 4 years now. This week, I
noticed that my left low-beam headlight has gone out. Turning the headlights off and on again, The left headlight will actually still emit a minor blue glow for about 20 seconds. In order to find out what's going on, I called my local Acura dealer. I was told that the headlight is probably going bad, and that the replacement for these Xenons will cost me $150 each ($220 with service). $220?! Noooo Way! The dealer also mentioned that this was the only way to replace these Xenons, and that I should not simply replace the bulb. According to him, doing that would risk damage to the electrical system. My questions are: 1. Is all of this true? 2. Are there any cheaper viable alternatives? Avoid driving at night is not a gonna work for me :0) |

1) Probably. This came with the package when you bought a car with xenon
lights. The work on a different principle (high voltage arc in a gas rather than low voltage heating of a filament) than the traditional filament bulbs. 2) Probably not.
