Default Hood protectant

I'm getting delivery on an '04 Rsx this weekend. I hear there is soem
type of protectant to cover the hood from paint chips other than using a
bra. Is this true?

IIRC,3M has a protectant plastic film (non-yellowing)that has to be applied
by a professional(of course),and has to be redone after several years.
I believe there was an brief article on it in Popular Mechanics magazine.

Congrats on the RSX. Yes, there are several paint protection
films on the market. Most are intended for professional
installation.

Xpel does sell pre-cut films that can be applied by
(detail-oriented and patient) consumers: www.xpel.com

I've never used the full paint protection... However, I did
purchase the headlight protection film for my CL-S a couple of
years ago. Since my Integra's headlights were terribly pitted
after two years of ownership, I thought it might be a good
investment. Fit was great and application was easy. So far so
good on the CL-S.

I have the 3M film on the hood of my 2002 Toyota Highlander and it looks as
good as new (68,00 kms). I would add it to any new car I bought.

The dealership salesman told me a TSX had the 3M film applied but a
corner came loose and it was hence removed. I wonder if the applicator
wasn't up to snuff. I'd really like to try it out. I wonder if removal
of the film caused any finish problems for the TSX.
