Default 2004 TL Tires

I have been considering trading for a 2004 TL, but have heard of problems
with the Bridgestone tires. Does everyone have this problem? Why did Acura
stop using Michelin?

I have a 2000 TL, which I bought new. It has 55,000 miles and still has the
original Michelin tires. They are as smooth as ever. Maybe I ought to just
keep this car and buy a new set of Michelins.

There is nothing wrong with Michelins. They are great tires made for
drivers who drive normally and have no interest in super high performance
cornering.

Acura choice of OEM tire does not indicate there is a problem with Michelin,
but rather is a beaurocratic/political/cost driven decision.

The Michelins that came with the 2003 TL-S are dangerously defective
tires that should be recalled. They develop bubbles on the sidewall
and blow out at highspeed if you do not notice and replace the bubbled
tire immediately.

I have replaced two of mine with a different brand higher performance
tires (which incidently cost way less than the stock Michelins), and I
visually inspect the remaining two Michelins every time I drive the
car. Since this particular tire wears quickly in addition to the
bubble problem, I know I will be changing the remaining two pretty
soon.

I personally like to have tires that grip in rain, snow and emergency
braking. The factory Michelins that Acura uses are of poor quality and
consistently rank at the bottom for grip.

Are these the same Michelins that OE on the '03 RSX?

No, not everyone has the problem. Personally I have no problem with the
tires, and don't push the car hard enough to know what I might be
missing from a better tire. I don't have the vibration/flatspotting
problem that some people do.

Here here! I could not agree more. I see old beater cars driving around
in the snow
that have better traction than I do in my RSX-S. It's not a TL, but it
still has horrible
tires.

I didn't have the flat spotting tires that many '04 TL owners
have experienced with the Bridgestone EL-42's. Nevertheless, I
traded them in last week for Michelin Pilot Sport A/S's because
the Bridgestones were amazingly bad -- unsafe really -- in the
snow. Everything I read says that they stink in the rain too.

So far, I love the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S's. They are better
in every way and worth the $600 after trade-in and mounting.

I have the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on my 1997 E420, and love them in all
weather....I've been driving on them for about 15,000 miles so far.

The Michelin tires that came with my 2002 TL-S have had the bubbles on the
sidewall problem also. What brand and model tires did you replace them with
that was cheaper and better?
