Default 1999 3.2TL TCS and Engine light on

Hi group,
just yesterday, the Check Engine light and the TCS light came on at the same
time, but earlier that day, i heard a wierd scraping sound when the TCS was
activated because of some wheel slippage on a slippery spot.
The manual says the brakes are heating up, and to pull over and turn the car
off to let them cool down..
Well, i did that, and looked at the rotors, but they weren't glowing or
anything, and i wasn't about to touch them to find out lol..

I know TCS isn't necessary to drive the car, or to brake, but could this be
something more serious because the Check Engine light is on? I'm hoping
not..
If this helps, it just got cold here in east coast Canada recently.. January
1st was our first very cold day of the year, and it hasn't gotten any
warmer.. before Jan 1st, i was always between 0 and 10 degrees celcius.. now
its like winter just came in and threw out the remaining fall weather we had
left over.

I had this same thing on my 99 last year. It turned out to be the EGR
valve needed to be replaced. Acrua has extended the warranty on this
part to 80K miles. If you are under 80K it is covered.

I don't know the exact price since I didn't have to pay for it.
I do believe I read about someone else paying for one and they
said about $400 US. Seems exceptionally high to me. I don't
remember if that was for the part or the installed price.
Do it yourself, it's sitting right on top in an easy location.
