I bought my 2003 TL-S last June. I have less than 9,000 miles on it.
Today I noticed a bubble on the sidewall of the tire, right next to the rim. The bubble is about the size of half a golf ball. There is no external damage to the tire, just the bubble, so it is obviously a manufacturing defect. Will an Acura dealer change the tire for me and cover it under the warranty? |

I just wanted to add that I went out and put my hand on the bubble and I realized that it is about the diameter of a baseball - going from the edge of the tread to the rim. Not that size would change anything - a defect is a defect. On 10 Jan 2004 16:08:53 -0600, The Other One <too@nowhere.net> wrote: >I bought my 2003 TL-S last June. Tires are covered under the tire manufacturers warranty, not Acura. That being said, most dealerships with work with you and the manufacturer to get the tire replaced. But it is the tire manufacturers decision to warranty or not. HTH, Don in Phoenix 2002 ABP RSX |

Hopefully since these are original tires they will be covered by
someone. I have recently found out the hard way that I won't buy any replacement tires at a dealership anymore. Most dealerships do not stock or buy their tires from the manufacturer anymore (at least around here). They buy them wholesale from someplace like NTB when you need new tires. They don't tell you this, but when that happenes, the warranty does not transfer - so you get new tires with no warranty. I has the same problem on my 2002 TL-S, the tires are very susceptible to
side wall bubbles if you hit a pot hole. Can you re-call an impact. The dealer I paid $225 for a new tire. Find an authorized tire dealer. They are somewhat more flexible. As for me I called Michelin and complained after the fact. They mail me a check for $57. I have no idea how they came up with that amount. I took it $57 is better then $0. SO unless the dealer will work with Michelin, go to an authorized Michelin dealer. Good luck. unless your acura dealership wants to be kind, no, they will not replace
your tire free of charge. sidewall bubbles are normally caused by potholes or curbing your tires. some dealerships will take a loss and replace tires under such conditions, but it is merely a kind gesture and they are by no means required to do so. -Erik "Joe" <jsc53@optonline.net> wrote in message news:NicMb.131073$Cs3.25567171@news4.srv.hcvlny.cv .net... > I has the same problem on my 2002 TL-S, the tires are very susceptible to > side wall bubbles if you hit a pot hole. I guess I will call the dealer and see what they say. Another problem is that the local dealer is not where I bought the car, so they probably won't go out of their way for me. If the dealer can't help me I will try an authorized Michelin dealer. If they don't cover it and I need to buy a new tire I will probably replace two of them with a different brand. Any suggestions? |

I drove over a crease from road construction on the Smoke Stack State
Parkway (NJ), and I suffered from not 1 bubble, but 1 bubble in my two front tires along with two bent front rims. I went out and purchased two new stock tires then learned that these tires have a tendency to do just this. They should recall these tires, they suck and I don't recommend them to anyone. I have the same problem on 2 of my tires on my 02 TL-S. The bubbles
have been there awhile and I have not attempted to remedy it yet. I will go to my usual tire dealer who is a Michelin dealer. By the way, the stock tires really blow on this car. I'll probably just replace them all with good tires soon. I have about 31000 miles on it. I just got some new Continental ContiExtremeContact high performance
tires on my other car that I'm real happy with. I would consider those as replacements.
