Default Teflon treatment

We have just purchased an MDX, and the dealer is offering to treat the car
with teflon to protect it. We are not people who spend hours detailing the
car, comparing different waxes, and so forth, so we are tempted. They say
they provide a 5 year warranty too, but I haven't studied it.

I understand you can reach very good results on your own, but as I said
it's not likely for us. So, comparing the cost of professionally waxing
the car twice a year, it doesn't seem like a bad deal. My question is: is
this treatment merely superfluous or utterly useless? Is there any other
long term treatment available on the market, and if yes who applies it?

Thank you

http://www.interwestdc.com/ THEY SELL PRE-CUT PAINT PROTECTION KITS (FRONT
END OF CAR ONLY) THAT IS LIKE A CLEAR BRA THAT YOU APPLY TO YOUR PAINT AND
IT PROTECTS IT BECASUE IT IS LIKE A CLEAR COAT THAT IS REMOVABLE THAT IS
MORE PROTECTIVE THEN THE INTEGRATED CLEAR COAT. IT IS WELL WORTH IT IF YOU
HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY BECAUSE IT COULD GO WELL INTO $1000 INCLUDING
INSTALLATION (OPTIONAL,BUT RECOMMENDED) DEPENDING ON THE APPLICATION.

Just bought it, it's a 2004, and we live in New England, tough winters.
I'll check out your recommendation, thanks

The stuff basically is applied just like all other sealants and waxes.
Eagle One has a sealant, "Wet", that has Teflon.

Depends on where you live, Fair weather, hi humidity, or blazing heat.
Personally, I like Teflon.

I live in Connecticut, pretty darn cold. Problem is, I have read that
Teflon is only effective when applied at extremely high temperatures
(like on pots and pans for instance), otherwise is not really bonding
with the metal. I was wondering if this is just a 'post car sale' pitch.
