The recovery tank will not work right if there is any air in the radiator. You will also want to check for an air bleeder in the area where the top radiator hose connects to the engine to get any trapped air out. Have you diagnosed where the previous coolant went? |

In other words it is a good idea to get Honda antifreeze because it is formulated for the high aluminum content of the engine. 2) Most antifreeze is a concentrate and needs to be diluted with water 50/50 to work properly. To answer your question, fill the radiator to the top. Run the engine for a while and after it cools check it again. You may need to add more. Don't worry about overfilling the radiator. The excess will go into the reservoir. |

ah crap, so to answer both your questions, i first filled up the resevoir,
then put a little in the rad.. dammit.. also, the stuff i bought is premix, so i didnt have to add water.. it was good till -37 celcius and 130 something celcius.. i looked for a leak when i put this stuff in, but couldnt find any.. as far as the air trapped in goes, i didnt know about that or an air bleeder... im gonna get the oil changed today so ill find out more.. thanks a lot you two.. i didnt know any of this.. much appreciated ![]() "The Other One" <oo@other.org> wrote in message news:8tnhrvcmrcahffovgmhhsqi8rl5m9j8ur7@4ax.com... > On Mon, 17 Nov 2003 01:58:45 -0400, "super_nintendo_chalmers" > <gsolomon@eastlink.ca> wrote: > > >hi, > >i checked my coolant today and it was dry as a bone.. nothing in the > >radiator and nothing in the resevoir.. i bought some premix (BRIGHT green > >stuff) and filled the resevoir to the MAX line but im not sure about the > >rad.. does that have to be filled to the top of the cap or just below it as > >well? > >thanks beforehand. > > > > Just a couple of related comments: > > 1) The color has little to do with the actual quality of the > antifreeze relative to the type of engine. It should be almost right up to the top. It doesn't matter if you also filled the reservoir. The amount in there isn't critical. Then monitor it to see if it is leaking. |
