Just about had my mind made up to buy a new TL when I came across a number
of posts about HID headlights getting ripped out of older TL's. Is this still a potential problem with the newer models? Thanks! ---- John |

So I guess you want to avoid any car that has either of those items too. Maybe you should get a bicycle. Oh, wait, they steal those too. On a more serious note I have never heard of anyone stealing headlights from a TL. We have two TLs in our family ('02 and '03). I was surprised at how low the insurance rates are for these cars, so apparently the insurance companies don't consider it to be a problem. TOO |

Geez, where do you live? Must be a nice crime free area. Lots of people
have had problems with these headlight assemblies being ripped off over the last couple of years...... > On a more serious note I have never heard of anyone stealing > headlights from a TL. I don't know about headlights, but I've had the "Type S" badge stolen from
'02 TL-S twice now, both times from an airport parking lot. Thanks for all the replies, guys. I test drove a new TL today and asked the
dealer the same question. He claims that because the new TL HID's are different than the older models (platform is also unique to the new TL), there shouldn't be problems with headlight thefts. Hmmmm... --- John "John" <jonnor@(nospam)comcast.net> wrote in message news:VCZrb.118541$mZ5.807681@attbi_s54... > Just about had my mind made up to buy a new TL when I came across a number > of posts about HID headlights getting ripped out of older TL's. It might be true. From what I have read, the HID's stolen from the older TL's
were used in Accords. Maybe the size (platform?) is different and makes them far more difficult to retrofit. Dan noyap wrote: >>Thanks for all the replies, guys. (Acura lags about a year or two behind the Honda models). So there will always be a place to put the lights apparently. I still think fear of crime is a dumb reason not to get the car that you want. |
