Default MSRP - $1000 = 32,195 for Acura 2004 TL in Ohio (including destination fee)

Today I bought my 2004 Acura TL w/o navi. To tell my story short, first let
me tell you that for now I'm not going to tell the name of the dealer where
I got this price until I pickup my car on Monday. Papers are signed, but the
Credit Union still has to send the check on Monday.
I went to 3 dealers, first one didn't have the color my wife liked (someting
like Anthracite, or similar, with ebony interior), at the second dealer I
talked with the manager and he told me he would reduce only $500. I told him
at the first dealer they were reducing the price in $700(not true, just a
small lie), so I would buy the car only if I get a $1000 discount from MSRP.
They said NO. So I politely said goodbye. Then I went to the third dealer in
a small town 50 minutes away. I came with the same lie. That I was getting
$700 discount from the previous dealer, and that they had the color that I
liked. They offered me $850 reduction. I said for $150 less I wouldn't buy
50 minutes away from home. Then when I was leaving the manager came, he
asked me again if in the other dealer they had the color I liked(they asked
3 times this same question). I said yes, then he gave me the $1000 I asked.
My learning experience from all this is: "If you are ready to buy and close
the deal right away, and you have a reasonable offer to show the mnager, and
the dealer is located in a "low profile" town (slow sales), you have a good
chance to win. Good luck with your purchase!

Well, Mr. Pablo Giordano of Ohio, we at the Ohio Automobile Dealers
Association are certainly displeased to hear how you blatantly falsified
information while conducting business with one of our members.

And, in addition, proudly bragged about it in a public forum ...

While some feel that automobile dealers take advantage of the public,
our dealers conduct their business in a sincere and reputable fashion.
We enter into business agreements honestly, and expect our customers
to be equally candid with us.

We will be contacting the Ohio area Acura dealers:
Park Acura of Akron,
Motorcars Volvo Acura of Cleveland,
Lindsay Acura in Columbus,
Acura Of Dayton,
Acura Columbus in Dublin,
Superior Acura in Fairfield,
Mathews Kennedy Honda in Marion,
and Dave White Acura in Sylvania

and notifying them of your public statements, and determining a suitable
course
of action to "remedy" the situation. You can expect a surprise when you
"pickup your car on Monday", to say the least ...

Well Mr. Slocum, my vote is in favor of Mr. Pablo.

Just recently I went to purchase the new BMW 530I and no one would budge.
The ( the dealers) in your words blatantly falsified information that the
supply was tight and all incoming cars were sold. Not true, I finally was
able to get $ 1500 off MSRP from two of the dealers and they each had
another 5 vehicles for sale only 5 days later.

And what does the Acura dealers of Ohio do, have meetings and set up
collusion (price fixing). You and I both know that Acura dealerships are
privately owned and the dealer can sell at the price he wants the same way
that the dealer service departments decide what the recommended services
should be and definitely charge absorbonant prices.

Mr Pablo was a smart buyer and should be congratulated for making the best
deal.

Is this a joke? An autombile dealers association claiming that they
take the high road? If its not a joke, these guys must be really
stupid, if they actually try and cancel this deal they'll get more bad
publicity here (and loss of future sales) than they could imagine.

I would recommend a lawyer if they try and cancel the deal. That's
breach of contract in my book.

Why wouldn't a member of the Ohio Automobile Dealers Association know about
all the Acura dealers in Ohio? There is another dealership in Cincinnati,
Columbia Acura on Montgomery Rd.

Well Mr. Slocum, in the message, I also changed the state where I bought the
Acura. You can try to notify all the Acura dealers in the USA. Maybe you'll
find the right one.

Good luck in your search.
