In the "old days" there were all sorts of things you had to be careful
of when you bought a new car. No high speeds, no steady speeds, change
the oil after the first 500 miles, etc..

I have a new 2004 TL coming in about 2 weeks. Anything special I
should do for the first while?

Engine tolerances are alot tighter nowadays. However, the general
consensus (or as general as it can get) on my Acura RSX is to keep the
rpms below 4K until 500 - 1000 miles are on the car.

The interesting thing is that Acura doesn't recommend an oil change on
my car until 10k miles (5k for severe duty), there appears to be a
special break in oil that honda/acura uses. I actually did wait until
7500 miles before changing my oil (and changing to Mobil 1 synthetic at
the same time), absolutely no oil usage so far, car runs very strong
(23k on the car).
