I've had a '99 TL...bought it used over a year ago. The car is great! The
only service i've ever needed besides the usual (oil, tranny fluid...etc)
was to have the ignition switch fixed. It was a recall since it would cause
the car to shutdown while running. If you do get the TL, take it to the
dealer and make sure the switch is fixed. Its free and only took a few
hours. Besides that, the car is great! Drives very very smooth, its pretty
quick, so very comfortable and is just sweater to drive. I had to drive my
sisters car for a week which is a 2003 Accord V6.....I'll tell you...those
new accord V6s are fast....they are quick on their toes....but it just
wasn't fun to drive....it wasn't comforting....hard to explain but I was
happy to get back into my welcoming TL's interior. The TL is a heavy car so
it drives as such....solid on the ground...but I like that. Nothing ever
rattles or makes noises...its always nice and quite (and I am at about 65k
miles). Steering it good and responsive... ONLY BAD THING are the brakes.
The brakes stop of course....but the cheap rotors that Acura uses have a
tendency to warp. I replaced my pads with ceramic pads and the rotors
couldn't take it and they kept warping (causing the streering to shake
violently when I brake at high speeds). So as long as you replace the pads
with acura pads (they are softer so its ok with those rotors) OR you just
replace your rotors, you will be fine. I replace mine with $50 brembo OEM
rotors from www.tirerack.com .

Great car....your'll love it.

Gabe

Eddie,

I'll have to agree w/Gabes opinion. I just bought a used 2000 TL and
absolutely love it.

Use caution, however, regarding the transmission. Acura had a problem
w/these and extended the warranties out to 100,000 miles.

My TL had 65,000 on it and had a "stutter" in 2nd and 3rd when doing an
normal acceleration. The Service Mgr looked up the TSB and said Acura
referred to it as a "jutter". Fair enough. They took the car, did a tranny
fluid flush and filter change (fluid was darker than normal), and said to
bring it back if it did it again. It did and I did. The Service Mgr said
that he'd been anticipating my return. He also said that I was getting a
new tranny courtesy of Acura. (Sidenote- Service Advisor called this
morning to say that my axle was 'welded' to the tranny, and that I was
getting a new axle as well.)

Overall, the car is as solid as you'd want it to be and exudes comfort and
quality. I'm extremely pleased with it.

Hope this helps.

Much Respect,

Genghis

Genghis is referring to the 5 speed... the '99 tl has a 4 speed transmission
and has no problems. its the 5 speen tranny that has the problems,
