Yes, It's typical and it does get much better when it is warm. The dash bounces at the windshield when bumps are hit. This causes rattling that sounds like it's coming from the left, sometimes right tweeter and the area of the heater controls. Also, the glove compartment latch and an air duct can rattle. I posted a remedy at http://forums.clubrsx.com/showthread...43#post1082643 A weatherstrip is put between the dash and windshield where they meet. However, the weatherstrip used might cause a slight noise of it's own. I've gotten no complaints so far. Dave M. > > -- > > > Rob > > |

Yeah, I have a rattle on the dash of my '03 RSX but considering the fact
that I have had 6 major repairs in 6 months ( what a POS...! ) I am always listening for "bigger" problems..! Jeez this thing sucks...!!! What kind of repairs did you have? Just curious since I was thinking of
getting a RSX. I'm demonizing myself on this group, but I advise against the RSX-S, mainly because of the 2nd gear grind which Acura refuses to invest in a retrofit to solve. If it hadn't been for the rattles and transmission in cool / cold weather, I'd put the RSX-S darn near the top of my "recommended" list (that engine is hot, 2 hp per cubic inch!). I've had the transmission "fixed" for the 2nd gear grind, but there was no improvement. I remedied many rattles. I just brought the RSX-S in for a "clunk" sound that was only a dry exhaust joint. Get a Subaru WRX (it has more hp and a lot more torque than the RSX-S, but not as ergonomic and glamorous). What major repairs are those? I've had my 03 RSX-S for 5 months with

Are we talking actually gear grinding or shift notchiness? I think the
grind can be caused because people are being fooled that they think they are in gear, but instead just encountered some nothiness in the shift. I've experienced this in third gear a few times. Usually my shift to third is smooth, but if it 'notches' then I can mistakenly think it's all the way in gear and it really isn't. 2nd gear notchy %30 of the time 3rd gear notchy very rarely -- Rob "Dave M." <gadget@frontiernet.net> wrote in message news:Cwubb.8615$BP4.3001@news02.roc.ny... > > Guest <nospam@spam.com> wrote in message > news:COtbb.2220$1H3.78571@news20.bellglobal.com... > > What kind of repairs did you have? Rob,
Acura likes to write-off the "notchiness", but it is the failure of the blocking rings to fully lock with the gear. After owning junk cars with no "notchiness", and learning about the synchro assemblies from rebuilding and testing manual gear boxes, Acura is selling us cars with defective transmissions for $23,600 and they KNOW it.
