Hello,
I have a '96 TL 3.2 that I bought last month with 113K. I am having three (minor?) problems: 1. When I start the car, I get a weird noise, almost like a horn, that goes away after 3-4 seconds. I have no idea where it is coming from, except behind the dash?? It does not seem to be causing any other problems, any ideas? 2. When I turn the car off, almost every time, the fan runs for sometimes 10 mins after - is this normal? It seems like the fan is just doing it's job, but I have not had another vehicle do that. 3. Shifting is not as "soft" as I would like. I just had the trans oil flushed and refilled with Acura/Honda ATF. It is especially noticable down-shifting, when I am slowing down for a stop sign or light. If I give the throttle hell, it shifts nice and smooth and at the right time. Should I be concerned? Thanks, Mike |

Sounds normal (wierd) but I've seen cars that do that. 3. My '99 TL refused to downshift smoothly. |

But they don't kill the battery and it can't be bad to cool down the engine. I suspect it's related the auto climate control running the a/c all(most) the time, thus telling the computer to operate the fans even after shut off. Have you changed tranny fluid recently? Her car will buck and go! But shifts really smooth the rest of the time. I think she's got 60k on it. |

I've got a 96 RL. If so, what you are probably hearing is the charging of the ABS system which is normal. Even better, is the fact that you say that it lasts 3-4 seconds. That is normal. If it lasts as long as 10 seconds, you could possibly have an accumulator or modulator problem. Cheers |
