A good deal, and a realistic one for a new 2003 TL would be $26000 for a TL
(no nav) and $28000 for a TL type S (no nav).

Please let us know (this newsgoup) what you snag one for if you decide to
buy a 03 TL.

GOOD LUCK, and happy hunting!

Thanks, all, for your input. I mulled it over the weekend. Should I
get an Accord EX v6, Acura TL, or Lexus ES300? Well, I decided to go
with the 2003 Lexus ES300 with Nav system, premium package (leather
and all that) for $34,500, which I think is $500 under invoice.

I liked the TL's price (dealer offered invoice for TL w/o Nav), but
couldn't stomach getting the last of a generation. And frankly, I
thought the exterior styling was deplorable and wouldn't age well. The
car didn't exude quality.

So I paid more for a Lexus whose looks I thought would age better. And
I just liked the way it looked. After looking at the specs on the TL,
it became a question of the Accord EX v6 vs. Lexus ES300. I couldn't
see the point of paying up for the TL when the 2003 Accord pulled more
horses and almost all the same features.

The only way to know whether the price was above or below invoice is to see
the invoice.
At any rate as long as you are satisfied, that's what counts because the
deal is DONE. Enjoy your Lexus,

triplezzz.....you sleeping at the wheel??...zzz ???

The LEXUS salesman LIED TO YOU...he wanted to sell you his overpriced
CAMRY...$ 34.5K + another $ 2 grand sales tax....TOO MUCH MONEY !! It will
be worth $ 15 ~ $ 17K in 3 years (end of 2006) if you're lucky...you'll drop
$ 17K ~ $ 19K in 3 years...OUCH.

Check out the TL 2004 and the latest pictures:

http://www.acura-tsx.com/forums/show...&threadid=1049

You think it is an Accord re-badged look again...nothing similar !! Also,
the resale value would be better at the end of 2006 since it is a new model
+ body style.

I am not saying ES300 is a lousy car ...it's quality is probably as good or
better than the Acura (this is a highly debateable issue)....but you would
have done better with the TL 2004.

My 2 cents.

Vinnie

Yes I could have waited for the 2004 TL, BUT, it's just a rebadged
European Accord! The salesman also said that the '04 model was going
to start at $35K. Anybody have an idea if that is right?

I've read a lot of people say that the ES300 is the same as a Camry,
but I don't know anyone who said that who also test drove both. Maybe
they're out there, and if so, I'd LOVE to hear their opinions too.

I've dealt with Honda service, so I'm willing to pay a bit more to get
better. Things like getting my car back on time, service appointments
being kept, and getting a loaner car mean a lot to me.

You're right about the Lexus SUV's though. They're sweet-looking

Default Re: What is a GOOD price for the 2003 TL

A SUV drives like a SUV/minivan (floats in my opinion, own a 1998 Toyota
Sienna, waiting for the re-design Odessey, anyone knows when it is coming
out?).

A car (Camry, Accord, ES300, TL) handles much better.

I test drove a 2003 Camry XLE V6, SE V6, 2003 Accord EX V6, 2003 ES300, 2003
MB E320, before settling on ES300 (mainly wife's choice)

I personally like the handling of 2003 Accord EX V6, the interior features
are very similar to ES300 except no driver seat memory. Dealer was quoting $
200 below invoice. Does TL comes with driver seat memory? I am planning for
a 2005 TL, once the consumer figure out all the bug in 2004 TL.

ES300 had a very nice appointed interior. Also is the quietest of the group.
Lexus was running a 1.49% financing, cannot beat that. Honda was running
2.9%.

As for the difference between Camry XLE V6 and ES300, there is a difference.
The ride in ES300 is much more controlled. Also the cabin "feels" more
solid. The solid feeling cannot be found in Camry or Accord, except in MB
E320, which is about $ 15000 higher than ES300.

Toyota (Lexus) and Honda (Acura) are geared toward different group. Lexus
for comfort, Acura for performance.

Overall, I will seriously consider the 2004 TL if it had come out earlier.
Oh, I forgot about the good deal at end of year model...
