Why does the RSX have a sunlight sensor??

The sunlight sensor is used by the climate control system. I couldn't find
any description of what it's used for in the owners, service or electrical
manuals. It is probably used to modify the car interior temperature sensor
output, to allow greater cooling during daylight / direct sunlight periods.

It is part of the automatic climate control system. It senses the intensity
of the sun coming in the windshield (and subsequently beating on your chest
and face) and adjusts the temp, fan speed and sets what vents to actuate in
order to cool down the front of your body!
