Default Buying a used car from a dealer

A little help please?

I am considering a 2000 TL from a local dealer.
The car has about 32,000 miles on it and seems to
be in good shape. The price on the car is 19000
and I am curious what people think a good offer on
this car might be. I'd like to do a cash, drive
out offer and not worry about all the the little
'extra' charges that car dealers seem to be so
fond of. A "This is my offer, take it or leave
it" type of deal.

I have never bought a used car from a dealer
before and I am just not sure what a good starting
point would be. The NADA book says trade in is
16550 and Average retail is 19200.

Thanks.

Kevin

Default Re: Buying a used car from a dealer

My recommendation is if you want a used Honda/Acura, stay away from
Honda/Acura dealers as much as possible. They'll take every opportunity to
rip you off. Most EL's with equal mileage from one of two Calgary Acura
dealers are the same or more money than the CL I got from a Nissan dealer.
What a joke.. I guess you can go by the book but in this city market forces
often make these cars sell for $2000-$3000 more than the book says it should
be.
