Default 90 Legend starting problem

Hey guys.
My son bought a used Legend, and is having starting problems. There is a
clicking noise coming from the starter when turning the key. The battery
seems to have enough juice(the lights are bright without the car on). We ARE
able to jump start the vehicle no problem. It will start a few times and
then the problem happens again. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.. JJ

This sounds like the main starter relay contacts are worn out. This is
a common problem, usually the first part of the starter to wear out.
It is possible to replace just the contacts, but I don't know if they
are available as replacement parts. Mine went out on a Sunday and I
needed to get the car going ASAP, so I just bought a rebuilt starter.

If a jump start works it's probably not your starter or solenoid. It
could be something as simple as a bad connection between the battery
terminal and its clamp. Take both terminals off and clean them with a
wire brush. Make sure you have the radio code first.

General diagnostic test: turn the lights on and try to start the car.
If the lights don't dim but nothing turns, its the starter solenoid or
the starter itself not drawing current. If the lights DO dim,
something's pulling current, but either the battery isn't up to it or
you've got a bad starter, bad ground on the neg side battery cable,
corroded cable (look under the insulation near the clamp), dirty
connection somewhere in the starting circuit that's introducing
resistance.

Whoops, I misread the phrase "able to jump start the vehicle" as "able
to BUMP start the vehicle".

If you can jump start it, the starter is probably OK, and you have a
battery / connection problem. >

This is a weak battery problem, nothing else.
