Default RLs -- Pros and Cons

Am looking for an 2000-2002 RL and am new to the Acura mark. Based on reading to date, it seems like the perfect fit for our needs. However, since this would be our first Acura, I'd like to learn the pros and cons of these model years.

How's gas mileage for example? Does it use regular or premium gas? What tires do you recommend? How reliable is the transmission? What are the outstanding maintenance issues to be aware of? Is it worth purchasing an extended warrantee? And, another other guidance you could provide would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah, well what about all the 5-speed automatic transmission problems with
the 2000 to 2003 models?

It only applies to TLs & CLs in the acura line (Odysseys also use that
transmission in the honda line). In any event, the warranty on all affected
transmissions has been extended to 100,000 miles by Honda, so you still
would not need an aftermarket extended warranty. I have not experienced
anything over a run of 4 hondas and acuras that would justify the expense of
an extended warranty. It would not have paid for itself on any of them.
