I moved over from VW and leased a 2003 RSX Type S and find its build quality
as good as the VW Passat W8 that I had repurchased. The doors give a satisfying thump when closed and the transmission is the best I have owned. For a car with such a stiff suspension I find the chassis structure very rigid and free of squeaks and rattles. I can only find fault with the tire and wheel package. I feel (and so does the masses of magazine test drives) that the Type S there should come with at least 17" wheels and 225/45VR17 tires. I feel that this is the only short coming that I can find fault with. It is a lot of fun to drive and find the engine and tranny combo very flexible as I have found myself letting the speed (in 5th gear) drop to as low as 30 mph and then accelerating up to 60 - 70 with no lugging whatsoever. The only things I can think of that Acura needs to include/improve upon in future models is: 1. The aftermentioned wheel/tire package! 2. Include a specific setting on the sunroof control for the tilt position. Right now you have to play with it to get to the max tilt position without starting it to slid back; 3. Availability of HIDs and traction control (or at least a limited slip diff). 4. Make both seats with a feature to slide forward and returning to the same position in seat back angle and seat position. Right now only the passenger seat has the return feature but not on the seat back angle (very frustrating). 5. Fill in the open area in the front wheel well with a plastic or rubber cover. It is a very large opening that runs from the strut to the fire wall, top to bottom and is a source of a lot of road noise. 6. Cushion the armrest! Please! Scott A.
