You may want to search the forums archive at www.nsxprime.com. I've
seen a few pictures of some owners driving their NSXs in the snow! In general, the NSX is a car designed for high speed track driving. It's set up for that using Bridgestone or Yokohama tires specifically designed for the NSX. These tires excel in the dry and are adequate for rainy weather but you have to be more cautious. You can get different tires for the weather conditions you plan to drive in but most NSX owners (including myself) only drive the car when the weather is nice. If you're going to drive a car in the snow, it's better to consider a beater car. You could drive your nice car in the snow but why chance someone else sliding in to you. Not worth it. I don't like driving my NSX in the rain since the probability of of an accident is much greater due to slick conditions. I don't want to risk having the car damaged so that's why I have a daily driver. If you can only afford one car and you live in an area with lots of inclement weather, don't consider an NSX. Although I don't do it regularly, I will happily take my '98 NSX out in the snow and ice. It has traction control, which is a great help compared to other RWD cars that don't. It looks weird doing it, and I sometimes get stares, but there's no reason - in respect of the car's driveability - not to do it. Whether or not you want to risk some loony careening into you is an entirely different question, and in that respect it's utterly irrelevant whether you're driving an NSX or a Trabant. Just my $0.02. -- Dan Drake |
