Hi all -- I bought an '03 RSX a couple of months ago. I love love love it,
but because I live in a congested metropolitan area with reeeeally bad traffic I wanted an automatic transmission, so I had to buy the base model instead of the Type S (which is what I really wanted). Now I'm suffering with a surprising lack of power when accelerating from stop, although the car does have acceleration power to spare when traveling at 40mph+. Excuse the newbie question, but can you all recommend any after-market product I can have installed to up the torque a bit for better take-off power? I'm in the Washington DC metro area, so any recommendations on sources of installation (other than the dealer, of course) would also be helpful. Thanks in advance, RJT P.S. I saw an RSX the other day in my area that had a Honda emblem on center of the liftback instead of the Acura emblem. Are these cars marketed as Hondas outside the U.S.? Just curious. |

put some performance stickers on the car.. surely that will make it go
faster ![]() also, i've heard carbon fibre shifters and pedals will speed it up too, hmmm what else... Altezza's will definitly also give you better speed.. and OH!! if you put a couple of 12inch subwoofers in the trunk, i believe that will give you a few hp boost hehehehe... sorry folks, this post is meant purely as what NOT to do to make your car faster... A senior once said. You can't beat cubic inches, OK. Learn that, especially
in traffic. When you live in a congested area, ALWAYS get a car with a fat bottom end. Those VTEC and high RPMs just don't cut it in stop and go, especially when the AC cuts in. Reason why I went with a 240SX over an Integra past ten years ago. RWD was also a positive. >You can't beat cubic inches
.... For low end torque (great for hole shots, like the Mustang), but the delivery of high rpm's without a loss of torque, yields high horsepower that is converted to high torque through the transmissions and final drives low gears. I agree that the RSX-S is a dog until 6,000 rpm is reached, but if you shift at 8,000 and hit second before dropping below 6,000 rpm, you'll brake the tires loose and go like Hell. Formula cars have low torque and super high red lines, but they don't pull hole shots either. Dave M. Yeah, let's do that 6-8krpm in stop and go every day. Yeah, let's use a
six-speed in traffic. I got rid of my even m 240SX after a couple years got smart and went with a Legend. Traffic - you can't beat it. Relax, enjoy your music. Life's too short. try www.hondata.com, their ecu upgrade will give you more torque.

I would love to get this upgrade, but it is a little expensive at this
point. Definitely need the one with the increased REV limit. -- Brad. is there an overdrive to disable?

Hondata mod or forced induction. Nothing inexpensive is going to give
you noticeable torque at low rpm.
