Ok let me put it this way,The Acura TSX is considered a competitor in the luxury compact sedan segment amongst its "rivals" like the BMW 328i, Infiniti G37, Audi A4 and Mercedes C-class. In terms of being a contender in performance? Not really. The Acura is never really included in the Performance segment of the luxury compact sedans, though it may offer similar standards to the BMW and Infiniti the Acura is never really taken seriously as a rival. In terms of Horsepower the class leading luxury brand known for this is Infiniti with a standard 328 HP while the selctive trims in the Acura TSX doesnt even cut close to its other rivals with the option of a 204 HP engine or a larger engine of 280 HP. Though the basic Luxury factors such as leather, wood triming and technology is found on the TSX it is not quite living up to the fame of other contenders in its class. Acura lacks in the class and performance segment, for one starting with the fact that Acura has no coupe nor a convertible it can offer its costumers. The good thing about Acura is the Price factor, the TSX prices at $29,130 making it the cheapest entry class sedan in its class, it undercuts Infiniti, BMW and Mercedes by a couple thousand... the Audi and Lexus IS are similarly priced to the TSX by a couple hundred more. The TSX would come in last if it used its weakest engine of 201HP, though if you opted for the most powerful engine of 280 HP it could easily beat the Mercedes C350 at 268 HP as well as the Audi A4 at 265HP. Overall despite not being head to head with the entry class top dogs in this segment the Acura does just as well in the ride quality. Technology is never left astray in Acura and appeal is never set aside despite being very bland and conservative it still manages to "keep up" with Lexus, Audi, MB, Infiniti and BMW.

Infiniti G37 sedan- 328 HP

BMW 335i sedan- 300 HP (More torque then Lexus)

Lexus IS350- 306 HP

Acura TSX- 280 HP

Mercedes C350- 268 HP

Audi A4- 265HP (3.2 litter engine)

I think the V6 TSX is a fair contender @ 280 HP... though some work would need to be done to boost that... I have always liked Acuras over the others..
