Default will a JDM ECU work is a USDM car?

JDM= Japanese Domestic Market

USDM= United States Domestic Market

here is the story behind the question, 00 Integra GSR B18C1 with the usual mods, intake, exhaust, Integra type R intake manifold, edelbrock 60mm throttle body, i pretty much have the same set up as Integra Type-R, just recently bought a JDM OBD2A Integra Type R ECU, along with the harness to make it work into a OBD2B car, this particular year Integra has a immobilizer made into the ECU and it is a OBD2B, the JDM cars dont have that feature, and have less emissions requirements compared to vehicles here in the US, so this is actually better as far getting performance out of a JDM car. but not good for US emissions.

I know that people sometimes swap the DC5 ITR ecu with the RSX-S ecu. Since the ecu doesn't have the immobilizer built into it, the function doesn't work because the ecu never gets the signal from the key to shut off. If you already have them, why don't you install it and see if it runs. If not swap your stock ecu back in.

If you have the parts already, aren't you kind of asking this question backwards? Not trying to be rude, but I would have asked before I bought the ECU and harness. Otherwise, I would say if all those parts are designed to make them work together, then they should work, with one exception. Fuel. Fuel in Japan is about 98 octane, while the highest pump gas we have in the US (readily available) is between 91-93 octane, depending on where you live, so the fuel and timing maps very well could be too aggressive for here and you might have to get it retuned down to US gas, which pretty much negates the reason you bought it.
