I drive a 1995 acura integra and I am putting in a Comptech header and a Apexi full exhaust with a stock ITR cat. If you could tell me the rough estimate of the horsepower to the crank and then to the wheels that'd be great.

There is no direct figure for that.
The effects of a header in general are to allow air to move more easily through the intake, so it is quicker to rev up. But you can't really measure that. The exhaust also is not necessarily a top end thing as much as revving up more easily as well. With tuned exhaust and balanced intake, there is a harmonic effect that improves performance, but that is mostly when you also have a full race cam with valve overlap (slight duration when both intake and exhaust valves are open). That is because the exhaust sound wave flips over at the tail pipe and travels back up the exhaust pipe, through the overlap, and up into the intake, to help vaporize and energize the gasoline mixture. On Indy cars, that is why you see those tuned trumpet like bells on the carb intakes. They are set to an exact length, based on the sound wavelength. |
