ok i spotted a belt under the hood that has major damage to it and i need to change it, but i dont know what the belt is called. When i open the hood i see 3 belts. One is clearly the power steering and thats not it. Another one runs to the alternator and the other one i think to the A/C, but not sure. The one that i think runs to the A/C is the damaged one (it runs to the front of the car while the other runs to the back of the car (alternator) ) ...i need some help with this please.

If you are looking under the hood of the car the belt on top you have noticed is to your power steering. Right below the power steering is the a/c and then towards the back is the alternator. You can also tell by simply looking at your dash bored. If your battery light comes on it is your alternator belt . You can also tell if it is the a/c belt by turning off the a/c and it will be the only belt of the three not spinning.
My alternator belt snapped driving down the road and almost instantly my battery light came on. Its best to change all three belts at the same time bc it is kind of hard to get to so its really best to change them all. |

You are describing the AC belt. But why is it damaged. Are you sure the other belts are ok? Most people replace all the belts at the same time. Sounds like it might be time to replace the Timing Belt also. You cant see it without removing the covers but if your not sure when it was done, might want to look into that.
