im planning to put in a short ram intake. (got my reasons) but i was wondering about the stock air filter. once i remove the stock air box, there is a hose that sticks out from the bottom witch i believe is connected to something that is just behind the front bumper. question is.. do i put the new intake and leave that there the way it is, or do i need to pull my bumper off and take that out??? I really need the answer, i don't want to mess anything up, and its been hard finding the answer for it.















please answer the question fully and why. thanks

That lower port is for heated air from around the exhaust. It is used in the standard intake to heat the engine more quickly.































You can safely ignore it and leave the hole open, but as with all air intake modifications it means poorer fuel economy in winter, especially for short trips, and longer time for the heater to put out heat. For those reasons, and because the intake is heated (which makes cold air intakes absurd), I recommend sticking with the stock intake.
