i have a 93 integra with 283k miles but the head was recently rebuilt with new gaskets and new belts. it seems like im losing a lot of gas or is just how this car runs? i just bought it not to long ago and coming from a civic to an integra it makes a big difference in gas saving. anyways with this high mileage car i was wondering if the problem could be the fuel pump that needs to be replaced or what else can it be? can there be a leak somewhere thats common for these integras or is there other solutions to save a little more gas? please let me know your suggestions. thanks in advance.

Use the proper oil. Make sure your air filter is clean...or even put a K&N filter in it, that will help a little. Make sure your tires are properly inflated. Two things that most people don't even realize as far a fuel efficiency, is alignment and brake drag.
Have a full 4 wheel alignment done. Your car could be fighting itself as it's going down the road. You may not even see any abnormal tire wear, either. Have your brakes inspected and make sure they are not dragging. That's a mileage killer too. |
